About Strain
Strain is a ratio of elongation to the original length, thus it is an absolute value and is expressed with numeric value with 10-6 strain, με or μm/m suffixed.
For example, if a bar elongates 0.001 mm from its original length 1 metre long, then the strain is 0.001 mm / 1 m = 1 μm/m.
Strain Gage is used to detect a minute dimensional change (strain), caused by tensile or compressive force, as an electric signal in the Wheatstone bridge configuration. By measuring strain with the strain gage bonded to a material or structure, the strength or safety of the material/structure can be known. Thus, the strain gage is used in various industries including machinery, automotive, electric, civil engineering, medical and food.

It is important to bond strain gages to measuring targets completely in order to obtain good measuring data.
Kyowa provides full range of strain-gage accessories like Adhesives, Lead Wires, Gage Terminals and Coating Agents, etc.
For extension of strain gage’s cables/wires. Careful consideration is needed when extending to long lengths, as overall resistance of the strain gage will change.
Serves as a connection between a strain gage and lead wire to protect the strain gage leads from breaking or peeling off if the lead wire is pulled.
Applied to strain gage and gage terminal to protect the gages from moisture in outdoor or long-term measurement.
High-temperature solder, flux for high-temperature solder, heat-resistant glass tube, heat-resistant glass tape, etc.
Used for mounting encapsulated strain gages, fix high-temperature lead wires with a metal band or to mount thermocouples.
DetailUse for applying constant pressure to a bonded strain gage continuously until adhesive is cured.
The kit includes all tools, gage terminals, solder and other expendables required for gage bonding work.
